Current conflicts involving Iran, (Persia) the U.S., and Israel have prompted some prophecy watchers to claim that specific prophecies, such as the rapture of the Church and the seven-year Tribulation culminating with the return of Jesus Christ, may soon be fulfilled. These scholars are drawing direct lines between recent and current events, and biblical prophecies. Ezekiel 38-39 describes the Gog and Magog war, which actually starts the Seven Years of Tribulation. Many prophecy scholars believe the wars described in Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17 will not only happen before this larger invasion, but that God will use these two conflicts as a catalyst for the Gog-Magog war. Some interpret ongoing U.S.-Israel actions against Iran, such as the targeting of key leaders, as specific signs that specific biblical prophecies are in the process of being realized.
