“The Sovereign Will of God” Isaiah 45:1-13

In biblical terms, God’s sovereignty means that He is the ruler of all things and that He alone has ultimate power, absolute control, and the final authority over the world and its events. The Bible affirms God’s sovereignty and firmly acknowledges man’s free will. In layman’s terms, God’s sovereignty means that He is in control of all aspects of our lives, from the beginning to the end. This understanding should bring us comfort, knowing that we are not alone in this journey. However, this does not diminish our responsibility to make wise choices and decisions, nor does it absolve us from the consequences of our actions. Last Tuesday, the citizens of America exercised their civic responsibility to vote for the presidential candidate that best represented their worldview. However, God also revealed His sovereignty over our nation in the election of Donald Trump as the next President of the United States. In His sovereignty, God chose the candidate He knows will accomplish the specific assignment that needs to be done at this time in human history. In this sermon, I will exhort God’s people to accept “The Sovereign Will of God.” We want to express our deep gratitude for your participation in sharing these sermon study guides with those you believe might be interested. When someone speaks of the “Sovereign Will of God,” the tendency is for the hearers to become divided into two camps:

According to Ephesians 1, John 15:16, and 1 st John 4:19, while not violating our free will, God the Father chose us to be His children before the foundation of the world and redeemed us from our sins through the sacrificial death of His Son, Jesus.

Nearly 150 years before Cyrus was born, God declared through the prophet Isaiah that a man named Cyrus would release His people from captivity and allow them to return to Israel and rebuild the city and the Temple.

While no one can say “this is that” before it happens, many prophecy watchers believe Donald Trump falls into that unique category of individuals who, like Cyrus, are raised up by the sovereign will of God to accomplish a specific mission at a particular time in history.
