According to the Pew Research Center, 7% of the world’s population – 450-500 million people are atheist, i.e., they do not believe in God. Adding those people who are agnostic or just irreligious, the number rises to 16.5% of the population or over 1.1 billion people . Atheism is on the rise today, especially among 18–29-year-olds. Among the reasons given for the rise in atheism is the problem of evil. Their question is, if God is the compassionate and gracious God the Bible says He is, how could He have designed a world filled with natural evil, or how could He allow man’s inhumanity to man to cause such suffering? They conclude that God doesn’t exist orHe cannot be a God of love. Beloved, even many Christians do not understand the power of the curse, the presence of evil, and the person of the devil, which is the title of next Sunday’s sermon.

Tragically, many who claim to be Christians are unaware of:
Therefore, they are unprepared and woefully unarmed to face the spiritual warfare in which Christians are involved today.
If we are to be victorious over the wiles of the devil, we must:
When we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, while our SPIRIT is born again (2 Corinthians 5:17), our SOUL is not instantly born again.
Once we are “born again” we can relate to God through our spirit without condemnation. However, we will continue to relate to the world through our soul and our body, which means we must be able to contend with the presence and the power of sin.
In Ephesians 2:2, Paul said the presence of evil is the “course of this world” – it is the way the world works.
