“The Feast of Pentecost” Leviticus 23:15-21, Acts 2:1-47

The Feast of Pentecost was fulfilled 2000 years ago when the Holy Spirit filled that upper room where Jesus’ closest followers were empowered to take the next step in His plan for our redemption. According to the Scriptures, over 3000 people responded to the gospel message, and the Church was born. Look around, the harvest is greater than ever before, but the workers are fewer than ever before. People around the world are hurting, and they need to know healing is possible. They need to see the love, grace, mercy, and peace of God manifested in our lives, so they can be drawn to Him. Beloved, in Ephesians 5:18, the Apostle Paul said every believer is commanded to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. Have you had your Pentecost experience? If not, why not? We will explain this further in our next sermon in this series, “God’s Appointed Pathway; The Seven Feasts of Israel,” and this sermon is on the Feast of Pentecost.

The three main reasons God gave the Mosaic Law to the Israelites at this time:

As the Feast of Firstfruits was connected to the spring harvest, the Feast of Weeks was connected to the Fall harvest, and since there were 50 days between the two, the Israelites also referred to it as the Feast of Pentecost.

The Feast of Pentecost pointed to the great harvest of souls that would come into the Kingdom of God during the period known as the Church Age.

The Church was born on the day of Pentecost, 2000 years ago. According to the prophecy of Joel 2, the events of that day also started the “last day’s clock,” and while it has been ticking for the last 2000 years, God’s great harvest of souls has been taking place, and the harvest will continue until the Feast of Trumpets, which is the next event on God’s prophetic calendar.
