When a person received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, they also enlisted in the Lord’s army, and they were called to fight against God’s enemies. However, our battle is not with people or the human organizations they represent. Our conflict is with “the rulers of the darkness of this age, [and] against [the] spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. And we do not fight with weapons of the flesh , “but with the whole armor of God.” No believer is safe who faces Satan in his strength alone, but no believer is more secure than he who goes into battle wearing the whole armor of God. This is the subject of our last sermon in this series on “The Believer’s Call to Spiritual Warfare.”

In Ephesians 6:10-17, the Apostle Paul used the six pieces of a Roman Soldier’s armor to describe what it means for a Christian to be fully clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

In Hebrews 5:12, the writer scolded the Christians of that day for their lack of spiritual growth. He said, “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you still need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God.”

While it is delightful to see an unbeliever become a new-born-babe in Christ and hunger for the sincere “milk” of the Word, it is depressing to see a Christian who has had sufficient time to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord still needing to be “spoon-fed” the fundamental principles of the Christian Faith.

Satan is real! Among his many titles, he is called the “ devil ,” the “ serpent ,” the “ evil one ,” and the “ accuser of the brethren .”

“ And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, we will not fear, for God hath willed, His truth to triumph through us: The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him; His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure. One little word shall fell him.” Amen!
