Dear Heritage Family, Pardon our lateness in getting this sermon study guide to you. However, from what we are hearing this morning, last night’s sermon on Revelation 4-5 was an eye-opener, and I’m thankful the Lord used it in that way. There are several things I hope you will learn from this study: Regardless of the human leaders who think they are in control, God rules, and nothing can happen without His expressed permission. God has not changed, and the plans He ordained to bring this age to an end will be carried out according to His design. Even the evil of man is under the sovereignty of God. Therefore, we should not fear what man can do to us, but rather we should fear (respect) the Holy God who is in charge of all men. Sadly, even most Christians seem to have a greater fear of any form of temporal suffering than they do of eternal separation from God. Finally, thank God the Lamb (the Lord Jesus) is worthy to open the seals and bring this age to a close. Otherwise, life in the future would be just like life today, ad nauseum, from generations to come.

This study begins the third main division of the Book of Revelation:

In Chapter 4:1, John said he heard a voice coming out of heaven like the sound of a trumpet saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

In Chapter 4:2-3, John said he saw into the very throne room of heaven, and he saw God Himself on the throne.

In Chapter 4:4, John said he saw the 24 elders sitting around the throne of God, clothed in white with crowns on their heads.

In Chapter 4:5, John said he saw lightning and heard loud thundering, which represented the voice of God.

In Chapter 4:6-11, John said he saw four creatures whose only assignment was to guard the throne of God.
