Someone sent me a quote that said, “Missing church is a misdemeanor – the more you miss, de-meaner you become!” What makes that so comical is that it’s true, and it links to our Wednesday night Bible study on “Detecting and Destroying our Root Sins.” When God challenged Cain about his anger, He asked him, ‘ Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door.’ That is the choice we make each time we are faced with the opportunity to sin against God: we either crucify that sin that so easily besets us and obey God’s Word, or we surrender our lives unto the control of that sin . There is no middle ground.
