“In the Deity of Jesus Christ” Philippians 2:5-11

What separates Christianity from all religions is the fact that Jesus rose from the dead physically and visibly, and that validated His deity. In Romans 1:4, Paul said Jesus was “declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.” In Acts 2:32-36, Peter said, “ Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of God…God has made Him both LORD and CHRIST, this Jesus whom you crucified.” So, when the translators found the English word to describe the One to whom all respect and honor is due; the One to whom was given all power and authority in heaven and earth they gave it to Jesus of Nazareth, for He is LORD, MASTER, ADONAI, JEHOVAH GOD, so that: “At the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10,11). “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9).

During times of persecution, the early Christians used a fish as a secret sign of identification. The first letters of each word in the expression “ J esus, C hrist, S on of God, S avior” in Greek spell the Greek word for fish (ichthus).

For 2000 years, Christians have believed there is one God, who exists as three co-equal and co-eternal Persons, Father, the Son, and the Spirit; they are one in being, united in essence, power, and purpose, yet distinct in their personality and their function.

The New Testament asserts, while He was distinct from God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, Jesus of Nazareth was identical in both nature and power, primarily because He was able to perform works only God could do.

Jesus of Nazareth is the theme of all Scripture from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:1.

Petty Jealousy had arisen among the members of the church at Philipp, and the work of the church was being hindered.

Jesus was not only God of very God, but He was also man of very man, with one exception: He was without sin.

Because of His willingness to lay aside His deity and suffer death for all humanity, God the Father did several things:

“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in Him.”

The Jews referred to GOD as JEHOVAH or “YAHWEH,” which is God’s Holy Name. They considered the name , JEHOVAH to be so holy they would not say it aloud, except at very special times, and only then by a priest.
