For the next few weeks, we will study the Book of Jude during our Wednesday Night Bible Studies. Its placement before Revelation signals God’s urgent warning to the Church against apostasy and false teaching in the “last days,” just prior to God’s final judgment. The gospels define the faith, the epistles proclaim and defend the faith, and the little book of Jude says that Christians in the last days will have to “earnestly contend for the faith” against spiritual corruption. There could not be a timelier study for the evangelical church today. Recent research from the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University shows that only 37% of today’s pastors have a biblical worldview – 62% have a syncretistic worldview, blending elements from various sources. The church’s greatest issue is not keeping the next generation in the organization or denomination. The greatest issue facing the church today is its survival without the preservation and proclamation of TRUTH. We encourage you to review the attached study guide and share it with others who may benefit. Thank you for your continued support. Please share these guides with anyone who may find them helpful.

The priority of Heritage Baptist Church is to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 3)
Jude, one of the four half-brothers of Jesus, lived in a time when Christianity was under attack politically from the Roman government and spiritually from false teachers who had infiltrated the churches to nullify the work of Christ.
God established the Church to be the “Pillar and Ground of Truth.”
In verses 4-16, Jude lists 18 characteristics of an apostate and then he divides them into three major categories. “For there are certain men crept in unawares who were before of old ordained to this condemnation.”
The Bible is clear that apostasy will continue to increase and become widespread just before the end of the Church age. (Matt. 24:11, 2 Peter 3:3-4, 1 Timothy 4:1-2, 2 Thess. 2:3)
How can the church “contend” for the faith today? Where should we focus our energies and our resources?
