Daniel’s prophecy contains three mysterious timelines, consisting of 1,260, 1,290, and 1,335 days. The standard futurist interpretation of the numbers of these days relates to the time between the betrayal of the Jews by the Antichrist, midway of the Tribulation, and the return of Jesus Christ to redeem a remnant of the Jews. However, in addition to the standard interpretation, one prophecy watcher has also found a “second” application of the numbers to the Dome of the Rock, which was built on the very ground where the Jewish Temple stood. This, of course, stopped the daily sacrifice of the Jews and set up an abomination unto the Lord. Thus, converting the “days” to “years,” God told Daniel that it would be 1,290 years between the taking away of the daily sacrifice and the setting up of an abomination. Building on this, if we count 1,260 years from the midpoint of the Dome of the Rock’s construction, we arrive at 1948 , the very year the Jews declared the State of Israel to be a sovereign nation. Counting 1,335 years from the Dome of the Rock’s completion, we arrive at 2026-27: 691–92 AD + 1,335 = 2026–27. In fact, the dedicatory inscription found inside the Dome of the Rock dates its completion to the Islamic year 72 AH. Since the Islamic year 72 AH began in June 691 AD, the1,335-year period could end as early as June 2026, depending on the exact completion date. While no one knows the exact day of Jesus’ return (Matt. 24:36), a convergence of biblical signs and timelines suggests it is near. To escape the judgment reserved for a God-rejecting world, one must know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Have you received Him?
